Terps Won’t Have to Wait for Wells

The Terps finally get a break, and it doesn’t involve one of our Football players ACL.  Ok technically those are tears, but you get the point.  Things have been going so bad in College Park lately, it’s been hard to get excited about anything, but like all bad streaks, they have to end sometimes.  Even a dead cat bounces when you drop it high enough.

Not that I condone dropping dead cats from high places, in fact I’m not sure where that analogy even came from.  It’s probably a combination of two other ones that merge into one when I get excited.  And excited I should be.  The Terps Basketball Team got a HUGE boost today when it was announced that Dez Wells would be eligible for the 2012-2013 season (and yes, that includes this coming game against Kentucky).

Originally denied by the NCAA, the Terps organized a waiver appeal, one that consisted of a 10 minute telephone hearing that both Wells and Maryland AD Kevin Anderson participated in.  They were able to convince the committee that Wells should not have to sit out for a year, and thanks be to God, they agreed.

Far be it for me to praise Kevin Anderson in any way shape or form, but job well done for all involved in this appeal process.  I think it goes without saying that the immediate addition of Dez significantly makes our 2012-2013 outlook much rosier, and obviously gives the Terps a much better chance to return to the NCAA Tournament.  And in a year where nothing seems to be going right, THAT would definitely be welcomed news.

Welcome to Maryland Dez, now go get ready for your trip to New York.
