This is an exercise in futility. The Loh administration has been convinced that this is the only way to bring financial stability to the UMD athletic department... tradition be damned. In one sense this is valid: from a football perspective, the ACC is nearly irrelevant, and since basketball isn't a revenue generator, the Big(1)1(4)0 is a more stable financial environment. Although I have no idea how we are covering our portion of the ACC exit fee.

I will always be a Terp fan and alum, but honestly, what does UMD bring to the Big(1)1(4)0? College basketball is not a $-maker. And while we may put a few more butts in the stands in College Park for football, our squad can now expect almost no road support.

Maybe this makes sense as more details come to light, but this move significantly dampens my enthusiasm for college athletics.
