Terps Miss Twins

Well the Terps didn’t get the Harrison Twins.  I know, I know, I’m pretty disappointed too.  When I was watching the announcement (and don’t get me wrong, I always feel dirty watching 17-18 year old kids make a decision on where they are going to college), as soon as they said Kentucky, I was like “Of course!”.  Why would they not?  This is no reflection on the University or Mark Turgeon who I think we all agree is doing a hell of a job, but whenever  something can happen that would totally tip the scales in favor of a team I’m rooting for, it usually doesn’t pan out.  Such is life for those of us who don’t run with the front.

But I still wouldn’t have it any other way.  Loyalty is the number one issue for me, and sticking things out through thick and thin, only to see the payoff, is one of life’s greatest pleasures, for example the 2012 O’s.  Win or lose tonight, this has been one heck of a season, one that I won’t forget anytime soon.  And you know why it has been so great.  Because this year has washed 15 years of stink off of me.  So hang in there Terps fans, we know the turnaround is coming.  It just would have been nice to grab the twins and then go from worrying about making the NCAA Tournament, to winning the ACC.

Then again, who knows if that would have even happened?  After all, as I am pointing out for the 100 time on this blog (I think we all get a free pizza from Papa John’s or something now) NOBODY WANTED JUAN DIXON!  So you never know.  I was bummed when the Orioles didn’t get Mark Teixeira a few years back, now I count my blessings.  Same can be said for Barry Ziti.  In sports there is no sure thing, which is what draws us all to sports in the first place.

So cheer up Terps fans, life will go on, and we are not the kind of program that needed the Harrison twins, we were the kind of program that wanted them.  We are still on track, and just by being a finalist we have brought a ton of credibility to this program.  Now let’s turn our attention towards beating Wake Forest and getting off to an 1-0 ACC Football start!
