Terps Lose Devin Burns and Marcus Leak for the Season
The hits keep coming, literally. Today I had planned on writing about Devin Burns and Caleb Rowe and how they could be used against Boston College. Now I am writing about how Caleb Rowe is going to be THE ONLY QUARTERBACK on the roster this week. No pressure Caleb. I know throwing you to the wolves (again literally) last week with 0:32 on the clock was quite a pressure situation. Now you not only have to perform, but you have to do something three other Maryland Quarterbacks haven’t been able to do this season. Stay healthy.
Oh and if that wasn’t enough, blossoming wide receiver Marcus Leak has been lost for the remainder of the season with a broken toe. Were you all impressed with the run and catch for Nigel King last week? I hope so, he is now starting along with Stefon Diggs and Kevin Dorsey. Here’s to hoping Rowe and King have some sort of second team chemistry that carries on to the field this week and going forward.
Speaking of Mr. Diggs, we saw him attempt a pass last week. Any chance we line him up under center maybe 10 times this week to see what happens? Why not? What do we have to lose? Oh yeah, he could get hurt too! Maybe we ought to keep him right where he is!
Look, this season has been mildly successful to this point despite the injuries and the youth. If they can somehow pull out this still winnable game against BC, you have to hope that something promising comes out of one of the last few games. And as much as we all love to bash Edsall, you would have to give him a ton of credit if this team can find a way into post season play
Incase you were wondering what would happen if Rowe goes down, (and from the way things have been going this year why wouldn’t he) next up is Shawn Petty, a freshman reserve linebacker, who played QB at Roosevelt HS up route 193. Earlier in the day I read an article from Patrick Stevens where A.J. Francis told Edsall he played QB in 6th grade. Edsall said he was too slow, but was 18th on the depth chart because he has a strong arm. Well less than 3 hours after reading that, he is up to 17! Get ready A.J.! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Edsall’s such a loser. Every good coach I’ve ever seen who loses a valuable player and knows his team’s season is in real jeopardy because of it can’t help but show some emotion and some real disappointment around the loss. Even if they’re not supposed to. All of Edsall’s comments fall in the “these things happen and we have to keep our heads up” category. He’s such a loser. It’s obvious his expectations for this team are well below ours and are totally unacceptable for a head coach. He knows each injury gives him another excuse for mediocrity. I think he’s just thrilled to be flirting with 5 wins. Heck, that’s just 3 wins short of his dream season. I’d love to give him credit for having these kids believing in themselves, but I think the credit for that confidence goes to Diggs for securing a few W’s – not Randy.
