Last Minute WVU Thoughts

This is easily the longest I’ve gone durning the football season without writing.  The combinatoin of a super busy week, and just the down right depression from the UConn loss has taken it’s toll.

Don’t get me wrong, the UConn loss was not a bad loss, in fact I think UConn was favored, but that was our chance to go 3-0.  It was difference between flirting with a Bowl game all season, and just waiting until next year for meaningful football.  So though I wasn’t surprised, I am bummed.

Now on to the WVU game.  The most dreaded day of the year on my calendar.  Just to be clear we have no shot of winning this (come on reverse jinx!!).  Our offense is pitiful, and though our defense is playing well, they aren’t going to be able to contain Geno and the boys.

The way I see it, EVERYTHING has to go perfect today.  I don’t think we have played more than a quarter, or perhaps two in the Edsall era that come anywhere near the word perfect.  But if the defense can rise to the occasion, if we can play a turn over free game (cue laughter), or at the very least have a 3+ advantage on turnovers, then who knows.

We also need to find a way to get the ball into Stefon Diggs hands as much as possible.  He’ll probably need to take a kick or punt to the house, and then make a couple more big plays somewhere else along the way.

As I keep adding to this list of things that need to happen in order for us to win, I drives home the point of how difficult this is actually going to be.  But who knows.  It’s college football, anything can happen, and it sure wouldn’t be the biggest upset in the world, a large one yes, but not exactly the Miracle on Ice.

So who knows, maybe I’m wrong, but my gut is telling me this will be ugly, and my head is nodding along in agreement.  Regardless, I will be cheering for my Terps none the less.  Let’s play ball!

Terps actually played a competitive game today, was expecting a 3+ touchdown loss. Nice to see them get Diggs the ball for some big plays. And honestly, I’m surprised our D only gave up 31. Either we’ve made some strides in the right direction, or WVU is way over rated, and will get slaughtered in the B12. Hoping it’s the former. Now we just need to find 4 wins in conference. Go Terps!

Where would we be without Diggs? Stewart did an ok job with his defense today but WTF was a linebacker on Austin all day? Tate could cover fairly well but the rest of the time Austin was running free.

P.S.- Wrap up! Don’t just hit the guy.

Oh yeah, very happy to see Kenny back on the field. What could have been if Edsall hadn’t moved him to LB.
