William and Mary Breaking in A New QB as Well
While Maryland’s QB situation seems a little more dire and almost tragic losing Danny O’Brien to transfer and C.J. Brown to injury, William and Mary also has some issues under center as well. You know the saying if you have two quarterbacks, you really have no quarterbacks? Well the Tribe was going into fall camp with a three headed monster looking for the first team reps.
Not until yesterday was a decision made as Junior Brent Caprio emerged as the starter. Caprio does have an advantage over Perry Hills. He started four games last season completing 68 of 107 attempts, throwing for 6 TD’s, 7 INT’s and 795 yards.
What does this mean for the Terps. Well I think if you read between the lines, you have to think that the QB play is not going to be a strength for the Tribe. Here’s a guy that started four games for them last year, but was truly in a battle with two younger players up until the final gun in the summer camp. Sometimes coaches say that as lip service, but at William and Mary, it was a true open competition as far as I can tell.
If you want at look at a preseason breakdown, you can check out a 5 minute video from CAA Football Blog here on how some of the key returning players for the Tribe.
I am going to save my big time prediction on the game until later in the week, you know to give more time for Maryland players to injure themselves before I give anything away too soon. At this point I like the Terps’ chances. Get that engraved! I am not expecting to say that much this season. In all honesty, this couldn’t work out any better for William and Mary. Season ticket sales are down nearly 20% at Maryland. It is not a night game. The students are in class as of tomorrow, however it is a holiday weekend, and I have a feeling some (read a lot) will find something better to do. All of that above is just my way of saying Byrd is going to be less that rocking for the home opener. Still despite that, I think Maryland wins a game that should be much tighter than any of us care to imagine.
Say what you will about the state of the program. It is time to rally around the PLAYERS that are here. Despite all the craziness they elected to play here. They are excited to be here, and we should be excited to have them. If you look at that depth chart they are the future of Maryland Football.
As far as the administration goes, well lets just say I can not say the same thing, so I will keep my mouth shut. Some saying my Mom once taught me about not saying something nice….

Here here. Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been so busy hating on the administration, I did sort of forget about supporting our Terps. You can agree/disagree with war but not with those who choose to fight it! Let’s go Terps!
