Injuries Mounting Quickly For Maryland
With the advent of text messaging, I must say that when my phone actually rings, it is either something complex that needs to be worked out, or the news is so bad that it has to be broken by a human voice. So when you get that ring, especially if it is in the middle of the night, you know to brace yourself.
Now days, you can say the same thing about news out of College Park. Regardless of the time, any info coming out of Terp’s camp is going to be bad, after all how good can news be when all the team is doing is practicing. There is no breaking news that so and so looks really great, it’s always 100% bad.
So when I saw my text message from the Baltimore Sun yesterday that began “Terps DL….” I knew to brace myself because there was about a 100% chance that by the time I finished reading, I wouldn’t be happy.
Of course we all know CJ Brown has gone down, leaving the Offense essentially headless (Come on Agent P!). Now it’s the defense turn to get decimated. First is DE Andre Monroe, Monroe started 4 games last year, which is 4 more than he will play this year as he will be joining CJ on the bench for the entire 2012 campaign.
Next up is everyone’s favorite Safety turned Linebacker, Kenny Tate. Tate has a leg injury the extent of which is not yet know. Stay posted for more bad news later today.
Then there is another DE Keith Bowers, he is only out 2-3 weeks, which compared to the other news seems like a hangnail.
Joining Keith on the bench for 3-4 more weeks is AJ Hendy, the cornerback will be down with an ankle injury.
File this one under, it only happens to us, Isaac Goins will be out 3 weeks with Mono! Friggin mono!! Did Randy Edsall run over a witch doctors dog or something?
And finally, Safety Matt Robinson will be out, but only for the William and Mary game. Hopefully he will be available for the rest of the season.
So there you have it, in the trial to prove that God in fact hates Maryland Football (Hey Westboro Baptist Protesters, you have it all wrong), this post is your exhibit A.
Can we beat last season’s 2 win mark? I don’t know, but that job certainly got a lot tougher in the last day or so.

I am not sure how many walk-ons there are, but they are going to need them just to be able to practice by the end of the season. Time for another round of open tryouts!

I’m hitting the panic button on Tate. I think he is done. They sat him out during the scrimmage which makes me think his surgically repaired knee isn’t 100%. Now a new knee injury. Thanks for all your work Kenny. You are a great Terp. I will never forget the goal line stand against Navy. Randy should have never moved you to LB.
