The Votes are in…We Stink!

The Media has come out with their pre-season picks and as expected, the Terps are supposed to finish last in the Atlantic Division.  Both Florida State and Virginia Tech are supposed to win their division.  Rounding out the Atlantic will be Clemson, NC State, Wake, and BC in that order.

If you’d like some good news to go with this poo-poo platter, the last time Maryland was picked last was in 2010.  And we know how that ended….with our Coach getting fired after a 9-4 season!  I know, I know, just seems even more strange when you type it out.  What a crazy time that was.

Anyway, the point is, these predictions mean very little (so says the guy who’s team was picked to come in last).  I think we all know Maryland is going to struggle, and success for us won’t be defined by painting any numbers on the field house, but by showing improvement and building off of 2-10.  Will we reach 6 wins?  I don’t know, but I don’t think we should give up on that just yet.

Justified or not, it seems that the media never falls in love with the Terps and even years where I feel we are poised to make a move, they still stick us in that 5 spot.  So hopefully Edsall will post this on the bulletin board and use it for motivation as we head into the final 5 weeks of the non-tailgating season, as I like to call it.

So chin up Terps fans, remember, as I said before.  Last time we were picked last we won 9 games and had our coach fired.   I don’t know many of us who wouldn’t consider that the perfect season this go around!

I can’t say I am surprised they were picked 6th. Wouldn’t be August if they weren’t picked to finish 5th or 6th, even when we think they are good.

Those predictions mean nothing. I would have picked MD dead last too. I don’t see how we can be as bad as last year but it just might happen. I’m going to go out on a limb and say we win 4 games this season. It will be the first 4. That’s right. We will be 4-0 then the wheels will fall off in conference. But that’s ok. It will be an improvement and we will have beaten WVU.
