Miami Punishments Handed Down

I was all set to discuss the Maryland Football depth chart tonight (and I still may get to it), but the NCAA has announced its punishment of eight Miami Hurricane’s.  Earlier this week, most likely stater, Jacory Harris thought he would be playing.  Today the NCAA said (in my best Lee Corso voice) “not so fast my friend”.  With Harris’ suspension Stephen Morris will be under center.  If you remember back to last season, Morris was the quarterback that led Miami to a victory over the Terps.

While the loss of Harris probably makes the most news, the loss of safety Ray-Ray Armstrong will be the biggest loss.  Armstrong is one of the top safeties in the country and should make life a little easier for Danny O’Brien and company.

If this happened to Maryland it would be devastating.  It still could be for Miami, but lets not forget this is after all Miami, and their two deep may have enough talent to start at other schools in the ACC.  Sure it will hurt, and most likely this is only the beginning of the trouble Al Golden and company will endure.  In the short term the loss of the 8 players for the Maryland game will be an issue.  Not just the loss of the 8 players, but the entire situation the team and school have had to deal with could take its toll.  Then again it could be a rallying cry.  Stay tuned to see how it plays out.
