Football Uniform News

Head Coach Randy Edsall was on with the Sports Junkies, 106.7 WJFK, this morning and made the comment that he likes the all black uniforms out of all the combinations.  He also stated that he will not have any input on which colors they wear this fall.  He is going to leave that to the four team captains he selected.  They are Vellano, Gonnella, Meggett, and Tate.  Since the guys are picking the uniforms I’m going to project that they will wear all black for the Miami game and save the lighter colors for day games.  Don’t expect to see the same combination more than once.  Edsall had some interesting comments about the Miami allegations.  He said the kids should know better but if you are a coach and suspect anything and don’t report it, then it’s on you.  That’s all for today’s episode of Uniform Talk.

Wow, next thing you know we will be sponsoring a fashion show complete with a cat walk. I think it is interesting that he is leaving it up to the captains. That goes to show that the uniforms are kind of a big deal to these kids these days. Maybe these jersey’s will help a kid pick Maryland if he can’t decide between two schools. Personally I don’t get it. I expect to see a lot of really “interesting” combinations of colors.

Also, I thought the fans were going to pick the Miami Uniform?

Uniforms are a big deal to the players and recruits. One current UGA player said UGA moved to #1 for him when we first rolled out the black uniforms.

I think these special “one game” uniforms or even new uniforms obviously impress upon the players, but also breaks the monotony of their playing career, which is football 24/7. Something new and different gives you some excitement.
