Terps Basketball Committed Secondary Viloations

Apparently Maryland Basketball committed secondary rules violations during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons by having Joe Harrington prepare game plans in 8 games over the two seasons.  Maryland self reported and apparently there is nothing more to happen.  If you remember Harrington wasn’t actually one of the three assistants Gary Williams was allowed to have on his staff.  His official title was Director of Men’s Basketball Student Athlete Services.  The rule has since been changed to allow non coaches help prepare for upcoming games.  Do you think Duke hasn’t done something similar?  They only have about 8 former players on staff.  If you look at their bench there are numerous extra people there that I am quite sure help coach.  Anyway it is a minor blip on Gary Williams’ resume, and it appears to be water under the bridge.  Lets just hope that is the last we hear of that.

In some better news, Nick Faust has indeed re-commited to the Terps.  I wonder if Turgeon will refer to Faust some day the way Gary does about Keith Booth?  Anyway, it is indeed good news for the Terps, if for no other reason it gives them another body to run out on the floor!  If Maryland goes to a three guard lineup, it will allow Hawk to play the four if need be, and right now that certainly looks to be the case.  Also, as expected Sterling Gibbs has signed elsewhere.  Luckily he is going far away to Texas.  I would hate to seem twice a season.
