Maryland Touchdown Scored by…..Cliff Tucker?!?!
I only get Text Messages from the Baltimore Sun for two reasons. The first is the weather, the second is breaking Maryland news. Considering I had already received my text about tomorrow’s forecast, when I saw I had a message from the Sun, I figured it had to be Terps news. My first thought was obviously that Debbie Yow gunned down Gary Williams in the bathroom at Bentleys. Turns out I was wrong.
The word on the street is Cliff Tucker is joining the Football team as a wide receiver. This is good for a few reasons. First, we are short at WR, second we don’t have a bunch of scholarships laying around (Thank you very much NCAA) so why not take in a guy already on scholarship. Third…well that’s all I got.
I really don’t know how this is going to work out. You don’t have to dig too deep to find success stories about Basketball players turned Football players, but I’m not about to say I have any feeling about what kind of production we’ll get out of Cliff. But it’s a low risk move that really doesn’t have a downside, even if it doesn’t pan out.
Regardless, if you are a Cliff Tucker fan, you get one more season of Terp sports to cheer him on.

Here is his football recruiting info from Rivals.
I am not sure how the scholarship thing works. I assume he is still on basketball scholarship, but that may not be correct. Well, it will be interesting to see how it work out.

Credit Bear Bryant and other schools for the rule: But if a scholarship athlete plays both football and basketball, then his scholarship counts toward football. If the athlete plays basketball and a sport other than football, then it counts towards basketball.

So Cliff won’t be graduating in 4 years I guess. This of course hurts us when it comes to gradutation rates. I believe they give a student 4 years to graduate or it doesnt’ count toward the team’s goals. Could be wrong. If nothing else, they can use his height at wide out. He will look huge on the football field. On the basketball court he looks as tall as everyone else.
