Maryland Bounces Back To Beat Clemson

I hate to call today’s Maryland Basketball game a must win, because to be frank, they are almost all must wins these days.  That being said the Terps started slow, but rode a 13-0 run to keep Clemson at bay most of the way.  Of course this IS Maryland Basketball we are talking about, and despite a 13 point first half lead, we had to hold our breath on Clemson’s Demontez Stitt’s half court shot attempt for the win.  Luckily for us Terp fans, it banked off the glass harmlessly.

The big news, other than the Terps ending a two game losing streak, was Jordan Williams had 16 points and 11 rebounds for his now school record 13th consecutive double-double.

Overall, in a way you could say Maryland won this game thanks to it’s free throw shooting.  Of course had they shot he free throws a little better, we wouldn’t have been holding our breath on Stitt’s shot.  Jordan Williams hit 2-2 of two late.  Sean Mosley hit both of his late.

Today was a balanced attack, and you could say a lot of players played well.  Dino Gregory had a couple of big shots.  Adrian Bowie played really well early, and was a big part of that early 13-0 run.  Cliff Tucker seems to have found his shooting touch hitting on 3 of 4 from three.  It was a pretty balanced attack.

The concern for me is Gary Williams seems to still be scrambling for a lineup that is going to work.  Today Hawk Palsson got the start over Sean Mosley today.  Palsson played well despite getting two early fouls.  He is really starting to grow on me.  You can see a future for him down the road.

With the win, Maryland improves to 2-3 in the ACC and will take a couple of days to get ready for their next game at Virginia Thursday night at 7:00 PM.  I guess we will have to take baby steps, and today I saw some signs of encouragement.  It will be interesting to see how they come back against an improved UVA team.

A good effort today, but if that half court shot banks in…ugh. Thursday will be interesting. Obviously we have to grab some wins on the road.

If that shot goes in, I blame Bix who said he should miss on purpose. Why miss when being up by 3 prevents a miraculous shot from beating you?

Time, time, time. I am usually all for making it, but it just seemed like the right thing to do. That bounce off the rim was unbelievable. So it almost back fired. If Tucker makes it, and they tie the game, do you really feel like they were going to win that thing in ot?
