ACC Standings
The one thing I hate about the rise of the Internet and the demise of newspapers is that you never see standings anymore. Yes, you can look them up, but as a kid when you grab the sports section, you ready about the game and see the standings right there. Now you have to go off and look for the standings. Not a major problem but in all major sports I used to know where all the teams sat, now I have more of a vague idea of where those teams sit.
So to counter this, I am going to take a look at the ACC standings. We are going to pretend 5 ACC schools get into the dance. It’s too early to say if that number is overly generous, or not lenient enough (it would probably be the former prior to the later at this time), but we will throw it out as an hypothetical number. With that, let’s take a look at where everyone sits. Overall record will be in ( ).
Duke 6-1 (19-1)
FSU 5-1 (15-5)
UNC 4-1 (14-5)
BC 4-3 (14-7)
Clemson 3-3 (14-6)
VT 3-3 (14-6)
Maryland 3-3 (13-7)
Georgia Tech 3-3 (10-9)
NC State 2-4 (12-8)
UVA 2-4 (11-9)
Miami 1-5 (12-8)
Wake Forest 0-5 (7-13)
So as of now the Terps are sitting in the middle of the pack with a winnable, and must win game against GT. A win there keeps us near the cut off. But that win, if it comes, will also be followed by a Duke match up. The Terps could be looking at .500 mark heading into the half way point of the season, which means a strong second half is going to be required to keep Selection Sunday interesting. The good news is that Maryland usually gets better as the year progresses, the bad news is that one of these years that probably won’t be the case. Regardless without a signature win, even if we do climb into the top 5 it isn’t a sure thing, is just gives us some hope.
Then again, no point than looking any further ahead than this Sunday’s game vs. GT, win that and worry about the rest later. Maybe that’s why I’m a blogger and not a coach.

Slowly climbing the ladder. Tomorrow will be a huge game. Looking forward to actually watching it. I have been out of the loop with all the snow and the UVA game being blacked out up here. Need to get back into the swing of things.
