Quick Duke Pre Game Updates
When you don’t go to the games, night games are difficult to wait for. Especially when you wife’s alarm goes off at 4:00 AM. Luckily the Ryder Cup is going on, so I am sure I will dive into a nap late morning, but instead of catching 90210 reruns until gameday comes on, I have been watching live golf since 4:00! Live sports with breakfast= M O N E Y!
This is however is a Maryland blog and there are some things to touch on this morning. On the injury front, Coach Friedgen has said both Torrey Smith and Jamarr Robinson have been limited this week. I expect Smith to be out there. He just seems like he is going to play wether or not he is 100%. Ultimately, I think the Terps would like to make sure Robinson’s sore shoulder is completely healed, and if Danny O’Brien has the Terps ahead, I would expect him to give Robinson the extra week to heal going into the bye week.
One last item of note, is my prediction, that today is going to be a shoot out, and a Terps win. Not good news for the folks at Papa John’s. The last two weeks, the Terps have given their fans the opportunity to get 12 free toppings on their pizza on Terrapin Tuesdays. Remember one topping for each Maryland touchdown, and if the Terps win, the toppings double. After last season, that seemed like a great gimmick for the pizza chain. I mean we only won two games, and weren’t exactly the most explosive offense. So far this year, things have been much different. Enough of the pizza talk though, and back to my prediction. In the end, I see the Duke defense being unable to stop the Terps, and we will go with a score of 34-24, with lots of yards gained by each team.
Until then, those of you going, have fun, and get big to fill those bleachers!
Extra Droppings
For reason number 9,234 Boston College doesn’t belong in the ACC, I give you this. The ABC Regional map for the 3:30 games shows us getting the Texas and Oklahoma game. Now, I get it, it is a much more appealing game for the general fan compared to Virginia Tech and NC State, but the reason the ACC wanted BC in so badly was to get the ACC in the New England television market. Let me tell you, no one cares about college football here. It is obvious ABC/ESPN figured it out. BC alumni are the only ones. Maybe it is because I live in South Boston (an old Irish neighborhood), but there are more Notre Dame fans here than BC fans. I listen to the Toucher and Rich show on 98.5 the Sports Hub in the mornings, and they spent some time in Atlanta before coming to Boston. They like to talk some College Football from time to time, but they specifically get told not to do it too much, like almost never! If that doesn’t speak volumes nothing does. So it looks like I have a big day of watching football on my 13″ computer, instead of my 32″ HDTV! Viva Al Gore’s gran invento (big invention for those of you not fluent in Spanish.
