Maryland and Texas Football A Done Deal
The University of Maryland and University of Texas have come to an agreement for a home and home football series according to Jeff Barker with the Baltimore Sun. The Terps will visit Austin on September 2, 2017, and the Longhorns will come to College Park September 1, 2018. Whether these games are played in their respective home stadiums remains to be seen, but the idea has been kicked around of playing these in the neighboring NFL Stadiums.
I am very excited to see games like this on the schedule. I think it will help with recruiting, fan interest, and if the Terps can manage to win one of these, who knows what it could do. Seven years from now is a long time, and who knows what the two programs will look like by then, but Texas is a perennial power, and Maryland, well let’s just say isn’t. A lot can happen between now and then, and who even knows who will be running the show, but in my opinion, win or lose on the field, this is a win in terms of building the program.

Absolutely. Hey kid come to Maryland and play against Texas…or go to WVU and play against Cincinnatti.

This is great news! Hopefully I’m still in Austin in 7 years to see it in person, and hopefully the Terps won’t be coming off of a 2-10 season. (Holy canole…I just realized most of us will be in our 40′s when this rolls around).
