Getting To Know Randy Eaton
Steve Yanda of the Washington Post, has an excellent article on interim AD Randy Eaton. I don’t know what our 17 member search committee will come up with, but after reading this, I sure hope Eaton is given a fair shake. It is noted that he many not want the full time position, but you never know. Obviously, I think we would prefer to have someone with some experience at a big time school. Then again, how many times have you sat around thinking about how if you were in charge of something, you would do it differently. Maybe it is good to have someone come in who sat watching, thinking he would do it differently, but is close enough to the situation to understand the reality of the situation.
The part I liked the best is that he is trying to connect with donors, to get input from the people that support the programs. Wether or not Eaton has the leash to make any serious changes in the interim, he is gathering information that will be helpful to the next person on the list. I am not a big enough donor to be consulted on situations like this, but I got the feeling the previous director ran things her way or the highway. I don’t want our program to be run by the biggest donor, but getting a sense of what the donors are thinking would be a nice way to see more unity. Who knows, it may lead to bigger donations.
With this Randy, Turtledroppings welcomes you aboard, and looks forward to seeing you in action. If we can offer you any advice, please make sure you make friends with the basketball and football coaches. Everyone know the athletic department only runs as well as the two revenue sports do!

Thanks for keeping us up on the stich. Anyone know anything about Georgia’s ex-AD? I hear he became available recently.

We know he likes to hang with young ladies who are not his wife. He also has been known to drink and drive.
