A Little Less Depth at RB

The Baltimore Sun is reporting that Running Back Caleb Porzel is transferring from the University of Maryland.  I’m always bummed whenever someones career at Maryland doesn’t pan out as planned.  But sometimes you have to face the facts.  Porzel has talent, but we don’t have many touches to go around in the back field.  Da’Rel Scott, Davin Meggett, and D. J. Adams are definitely going to be getting the bulk of the carries and Meggett and Adams aren’t going anywhere, so as fans, this shouldn’t affect the 2010 or 2011 team too much, but still, you always want to see players come through College Park and enjoy their time as Terps.  We wish Porzel good luck in his endeavour, where ever he ends up finishing his career.

Extra Droppings:

Maybe I haven’t given Debbie Yow enough credit, I watched the University of South Carolina win the NCAA Baseball World Series, and as they celebrated, the announcers said that it was only the 2nd National Championship the University has ever won (other was woman’s track).  So 20 Natty’s in the past 15 or so years seems a little more impressive…at least when the bar is South Carolina.

I think there were rumblings of him being out this season due to academics anyway. Don’t forget Gary Douglass on the depth chart at RB as well.

Douglas did well last year. We are very deep at running back. Makes you wonder how Porzel did at G.C. if he pulled a Bix his freshman year at MD. It’s too bad because this is a guy that could help us a couple of years down the road. However, every year programs lose 1 or more guys to academics.
