Maryland Gives Randy Eaton Interim AD Job
Dr. Mote was not kidding when he said he would name an interim AD very quickly. Today the University announced Randy Eaton as the man who will lead the athletic department for the immediate future. After that, who knows, there are too many unknowns. Eaton is currently the CFO and Senior Associate Athletic Director. His interim title will become official on July 10, when Debbie Yow officially leaves. Eaton came to Maryland in 2003 as the athletic business director until 2008 when he took over his current job.
I will be honest. I don’t know anything about Eaton. I do however think it was very important to get someone in the position immediately. There is a lot going on in College Park that will shape the future, and for the immediate future Eaton is a fine choice, as he has been involved with the Maryland Athletic Department since 2003.
