Terps Get ACC/ Big 10 Challenge Opponent
Well, in my rant of all things I detest about the Big Ten yesterday, I picked on Penn State. Low and Behold, the Terps Basketball Team will be traveling to Happy Valley to take on Penn State. Not the marquee matchup I had hoped for, but I guess you couldn’t expect the powers to be to put a Vasquez, Hayes and Milbourneless version of the Terps against one of the top teams in the Big Ten.
This is the first meeting for the two teams since a 1990 NIT game in State College. Maryland lost that affair 80-78. Next seasons, matchup will be one of those games I dislike. Sure it will be early, and Maryland will be looking to find an identity, but it is one of those games where you don’t gain a ton from winning, but if you lose, it looks bad regardless of the situation. Penn State will be led by rising senior Taylor Battle. He averaged 18 points last season, and will probably improve upon those numbers this season. He recently withdrew his name from the NBA draft after testing those waters like Vasquez a season ago. So tune in December 1, to see the Terps against PSU, a game we have been wanting on the football field, not the hardcourt.

It probably won’t work because the ACC/Big 10 Challenge is usually smack dab in the the middle of the week, but this would be a pretty cool road trip. As unbelievable as it probably sounds, I’ve never been to PSU.

I saw a football game, against Purdue when they had Drew Brees. Was a fun time, and it is really cool to have that many people at a game, but. . . it is still State College
