Lax Coach Cottle Steps Down
Under all the speculation, following the Terps early departure from the Lacross Tournament, Dave Cottle is stepping down from the head coaching position. I don’t think there is any surprise amongst Terp fans that this is happening. It was pretty much put in writing that if Maryland dind’t make the Final Four this year, Cottle’s job was in serious jeopardy. For his career with the Terps he compiled a 99-45 record in his 9 seasons. He did manage to get to three final fours, but the last came in 2006. Stay tuned for any news of a replacement.

I think it’s nice for him to step down instead of making Yow fire him. Makes everything go a lot more smoothly. I know one of the Gates brothers was a finalist a few years ago for the spot, but I have no idea what he is doing now. I wonder if he will be in the mix, or for all I know he could have fallen off the face of the earth.
