Terps on Sunday

With the end of the 2010 Draft, two Terps have been selected by NFL teams.  Though there were no big named Terps such as last years Darrius Heyward-Bey, that doesn’t mean there aren’t some former Terps who can’t help out on Sunday’s.

First to go was Bruce Campbell, who like Heyward-Bey is now joining Jason Campbell (no relation to my knowledge) in Oakland.  Bruce went as the Silver and Black’s fourth round pick (104th overall).  The bay area is turning into College Park west, Shaun Hill and Vernon Davis are holding down the San Fran side of the bay, while Heyward-Bey and Campbell are calling Oakland home (actually I’m guessing they probably live elsewhere and commute to Oakland, no offesne to the City of Oakland…but we’ll, it’s probably true).

The next to go was Nolan Carroll who is heading in quite a different direction than Bruce.  Carroll was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 5th round as the overall 145 pick.  Per UMTerps.com, Carroll is the first Maryland player selected by the Dolphins since Elkton High Alumnis Larry Webster!

So there you have it.  Not much draft activity in College Park, but hopefully that will change in the coming years.  I’m also sure some of our favorite Terps will earn some tryouts as we move toward the summer, so this may not be the final list of 2010 Terps to the NFL, but it is where we sit after 4 days of drafting.

Cory Jackson got a free agent deal with San Diego. That is all I have heard about so far. It will be interesting to see how Carroll does. They were expecting big things from him last year before he got hurt. it will be nice if he could really get going.
