WOW!!
I really don’t know what other title to use for this. Sure beating Georgia Tech on two buzzer beaters was WOW as well, but the importance of this one cannot be over empathized. Greivis Vasquez turned in the highest scoring performance since the Joe Smith tap in game, and with some help from Eric Hayes, pretty much willed the Terps to a win. He did everything (including attempting a couple ill advised shots just to put his own unique signature on the game). The Terps didn’t seem to want to win after failing to successfully inbound the ball at the end of regulation (at least I think that was when it was, my head is still spinning). And Virginia Tech would hit a big shot every time it was required for them to remain in the game. The Hokies put up one hell of an effort, but in the end the experienced guard play, and solid foul shooting by the Terps proved too much.
So what does this mean for the Terps? Well here is what we got:
First, and probably least important of all, the Terps will be ranked this week.
Second, the Terps clinched I believe 2nd place in the ACC.
Third, Maryland will have a bye in the first round of the ACC Tournament
Fourth, the Terps are without a doubt in the NCAA tournament (how could the #2 ACC team NOT be invited to the dance?).
Fifth, the Terps still have a shot at the regular season ACC title.
And Sixth and biggest of all, the stage is set for the biggest home game in Maryland history since dare I say “Oh he steal it!!”.
This win opened up so many possibilities and all of them positive. This is going to be a fun week everyone, and I can’t predict what happens on Wednesday, but just like the “old” days this season is going to come down to Maryland-Duke and if Duke doesn’t want to share the regular season crown, they are going to have to go through Comcast, on Greivis Vasquez’s senior night, and facing a team who has to now be thinking that they are destined to win. Other than that, all I can say is wow!

I can tell you Wednesday will not get here fast enough. This is going to be a long week. I wonder what game is on before ours that will cause us to miss the first 10 minutes of the game?
Anyway back to last night. I have been pretty calm this year, but I wanted it last night so bad, and I was stressing big time. Milbourne was driving me nuts last night, but he made a couple of really big plays in the first OT before he fouled out. Even though Vasquez is the star hands down, it is really a team effort, if that makes any sense. It has been a pleasure to watch them this year. God know there have been enough memorable moments this year to make up for the lack of them the last few seasons. GO TERPS!

Took a quick peek to see what MD/Duke tix are going for on craigslist. Saw 2 tickets for $1000. Good for that guy. Thought this posting below was pretty funny – law student who will agree to provide future legal counsel in exchange for tickets. I love it.

I was trying to remain calm last night. We were at my parents and watched on their hurting tube tv. In the second OT with MD up by 3 with 30 seconds left my Mom says, “Md’s going to win now.” I nearly died. My heart was pounding and I was as nervous as ever. What a great win. We didn’t NEED it but it sure helps. Plus, I love beating the Hokies and their “Sandman” in their own house. This team is really playing well now and it’s because everybody is stepping up. Gregory had a huge game. Hayes played well and Mosely was up to his old tricks again.
P.S. – Just watched the gold medal hockey game. It was great. The Canadiens had an allstar team and could barely beat the US. Great job USA. If you don’t already hate Crosby, you do now.

A thousand dollars for a tix?!? Wow If I had one I’d think of selling. It’s going to be a great game and all, but 1K!
