Maryland vs Clemson Round Two
It is almost three in the morning and I am sitting in a parking lot waiting to see if this rain is going to turn to snow or not up here just north of Boston. So thanks to the wonderful world of droid apps, I figures I should write up a little preview for tonights game.
Since last we met the Tigers, starting pg Demontez Stitt has recovered from his injury. Had he played in the last meeting the Terps may not have been able to make that run they made to make it close. Now Stitt is an upgrade over his back ups, but he can still be forced into turning it over.
I think the last time they met, a first round ACC Tournament bye was possible, but still maybe a long shot. Now that is certainly a good possibility and another home win would certainly help the cause.
For the Terps the key will again be rebounding. I should just keep that statement on my office clipboard to use in the rest of the post I write. Last game Maryland did an excellent job of keeping Trevor Boomers in check. That will again be key. We have seen recently that the Terps are capable of letting teams dominate the boards and get easy baskets. Booker is another player who can exploit that.
One last key for the Terps will be help for Greivis Vasquez. Landon Milbourne needs to help on the boards and with scoring. Also important will be the contributions from the bench. Tucker, Bowie, and Dino have been key in the last couple of wins and that will have to continue. Let’s not forget it would be nice to see the Eric Hayes we saw against GT again. What are your keys to the game?

Box out, rebound, box out, and rebound. Two guys beside Vasquez have to be productive. Whether that is Milbourne and Hayes, or Tucker and Gregory, or Moseley and Bowie. It doesn’t matter. We just need two other guys to show up. We can win this game but it will be a close one. I hope we don’t have to win via another buzzer beater.

Limit turnovers. For Hayes not to get scurred when they bring the press and for him and everyone not to make lazy, telegraphed passes.

GO TIGERS!

I think the key for us is that someone other than Williams has to grab some boards. He can’t do it himself and if we get dominated on the boards, this is going to be a long night. I like that we are at home, but I’m nervous for this one. Hell I’m nervous for all remaining games.
Oh and Clemsongirl, I hope CCPS are OPEN tomorrow!!

Back to turnovers for me because it really stood out to me when we played Clemson last time. At Clemson this year, GV committed 9 TO’s while Hayes committed 5. That’s way over their season averages – 3.3 and 1.5, respectively. At home, I think we can afford to give up a couple more, so I’m setting the magic number for combined TO’s for these guys at 7. Assuming GV and EH bring the ball up the most, if they limit their TO’s to 7, we win. If it’s 8-10, it’s anyone’s game and we’re looking at another buzzer beater. 11 or more, we lose. There, that was easy.

That was a GREAT WIN! They really showed something tonight. Everybody played well the second half.

Awesome game! You just knew we were going to come back on them. But I hope we never have to play Clemson again. Geez, they’re pesky!
Tracking my feelings for GV: After UNC, I upgraded my feelings for GV to dislike. I think I’m still there, but it must be going up cause normally I would have hated the mop the floor thing but last night I actually thought it was funny. Maybe cause we had just taken the lead and I was on a high, but either way, I think GV must finally be growing on me.

Glad to hear he’s growing on you Rin since his Maryland career ends in a month!

Well I’ve never been one to rush into a relationship. I just hope GV’s reality show career gets going soon after he cuts down the nets.

Rin said, “Well I’ve never been one to rush into a relationship”. That ain’t no lie!
