Two Games In, Where Do The Terps Stand

Now that we are two games through the ACC schedule, it is time to take a look at where the Terps stand as of today.  The Terps got a nice win over a ranked (soon to be unranked) Florida State.  Following the loss to the Terps on Sunday, FSU went and blew a lead at home to a not so good NCST team.  At the time, the Florida State win looked like something to hang the resume hat on.  By the end of the season, it may very well be just a win at home.

The Terps followed up that win with the overtime loss at Wake Forest.  In no means is that a bad loss.  That is probably a game they weren’t expected to win, but they needed to get a good win on the road.  Wake is good, not great, and come the end of the season, that game may be one we look back at that could have made the difference between having a decent seed in the NCAA tournament or just getting in, or worse going to the NIT.

At this point there is a ton of work to do.  There are opportunities on the schedule to make some noise nationally with games against Duke, Clemson, GT and UNC still out there.

The important thing is to take care of business when they should.  This weekend’s game against Boston College is a prime example.   BC has lost at home to Harvard and Maine.  I know it is early, but this game is going to go a long way in determining what this team is going to be for me.  BC is not a tough environment to play in.  The game is sold out, but I am guessing there are going to be quite a few Maryland fans there.   The only other game BC has sold out is the Duke game.  Why is this game so important to me.  For one, it will be the first time I get to see them in person.  Who said New England Winters have nothing to offer?  Sure it is great I will be there, but there is a lot to read about a team in person.  Body language, the way they interact with each other.  The looks they give each other when things don’t go as planned.   It will be an opportunity for me to really take a good look at the boys.  Secondly, let’s be honest.  If we can’t beat a team that has lost to the likes of Harvard and Maine, then we just are not a good team.

So while we are only two games into the ACC Season, this is a must win game.  The Terps need a road win, and BC is ripe for the picking.  Tune in for my breakdown on how the Terps can win the game tomorrow.

Well if we don’t win in BC, it is quite obviously your fault! Enjoy the game, we’ll be looking for you back in the home country.
