Hurricane Warning
Now as I write this, I have talked to a couple of friends in the Maryland/DC area and everyone is talking about the wind and rain, and unseasonably warm weather. So no I am not talking about the weather, rather the pending potential disaster of a visit from the Miami Hurricanes. The potential disaster will be if the Terps drop this game.
Now I will be honest, I think Miami, might be the one team in the ACC I have not personally watched yet. Looking through their schedule, they had a very nice non-conference run against lesser opponents. The canes are 16-4. Oddly enough, they are 1-4 in the ACC. Their best non-conference win was against Minnesota in the ACC-Big 10(11) Challenge. On the road “The U” is 2-3 on the road and 0-3 on the road in the ACC. So again if you are in to streaks, there is another one you want to see continue. A big advantage Miami has is they haven’t played in a week, and they have had plenty of time to game plan for the Terps. I am not sure what school I come from when it comes from a long break. Sure you have more time to rest and prepare, but sometimes it is better to play and stay sharp. So we will see how that plays as well.
On the court the Canes are 6th in the ACC in scoring offense at 75.9 points per game, and 4th in scoring defense at 61.2 points per game. As a team they are hitting on 47.5% of their fg’s, 37.9% from 3, and are dead last in the conference at 63% from the line. I will throw the warning out there, that they are leading the conference in made three’s per game at 8.3.
The Canes are led by Dwayne Collins’ 12.7 points and 8.7 boards. The senior is is a bit undersized in terms of height, but he uses his girth very well to get position. James Dews is scoring 12 points a game and is hitting on 41.8% of his three’s. Sophomore guard Malcolm Grant is averaging 10.5 points and 3.8 assist per game, and again is hitting over 42% of his three point attempts.
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the Canes to break them down. What I do know is, if Maryland continues to play with the intensity they have the last couple of weeks, and the crowd comes out as fired up as they were for NCST, and we should be discussing a win afterwords. Go Terps!

Don’t forget the storm surge, the Chesapeake Bay runneth over tonight at the Inner Harbor, and I’m guessing Ego Alley as well.
As for the streak, I am glad the Terps are playing again already, as well as things are going, keep playing! We’ll worry about taking a breather later. I think the run continues against Miami, I’m starting to get confidient in this team!!
