Welcome Back Dino Gregory
A mid-December game against Eastern Kentucky, wouldn’t normally elicit a ton of interest, but this is the game where Dino Gregory is expected to make his return to the lineup. The Terps will be very happy to back another big man, if for nothing else, some added depth.
The problem is Maryland is going to need more than minutes and fouls from Dino. The Terps are currently the only team in the ACC that has been out rebounded by its opponents this season. Dino is not a glass cleaner, but he is active and physical down low, something that can’t always be said about Landon Milbourne. He does box out, and maybe he won’t get the board himself, but he might stop the man he is guarding from getting it, and we all know the Terps need to stop the other team from dominating the offensive boards.
What does Dino’s return mean to the rotation? I have no idea, but I expect Gary to give the start at center to Jordan Wiliams after his 19 point 11 rebound game against Villanova. I do expect to see Landon Milbourne lose a few minutes, and it will not be a bad thing. He has logged a lot of minutes, and at times he disappears out on the court. If he lost a few minutes, I think it might help him to be able to give more effort on both ends on a more consistent basis. Dino’s return will also likely end the 4 guard lineup when Milbourne did go for a breather, as Gary just wanted to get the best players out there.
So tune in at 4:30 today on Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic to catch the Terps take on Eastern Kentucky (7-2). It will be interesting to see how they come back after nearly a week off, knowing this is the last game until finals are over. Go Terps.
