Uh Oh Erin!

It’s tough to find a lot to write about this time of year.  That is sort of why we came up with the Bowl Pick’em contest.  But since my daughter is currently being hypnotized by her new Max and Ruby DVD, I figure I would take a second to write a post.  I just wasn’t sure what I was going to write.  For some inspiration, I logged on to the Baltimore Sun website, and unfortunately found my subject.

The Sun is reporting Erin Henderson has been suspended for 4 games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.  For those keeping score, Erin now joins Shawn Merriman on the not so distingushed list of former Terrapins who have been suspended for the exact same reason.

I’m not a fortune teller, and I don’t know if this is going to fly under the radar, or become a bigger issue.  But I do know this does not make us look good.  I also want to think that this behavior is something that has developed after these players have left College Park, but I now find that theory getting harder to believe.  I am curious to see if this does indeed cast a shadow over what has been accomplished on the field in Maryland this last decade.  I certainly hope not, but if it does, the ice Ralph is skating on could conceivably get thinner.

One thing you can count on, it is not going to be a very Merry Christmas in the Henderson Household this year.

I think it is safe to say that if they are taking performance enhancing drugs at MD, it isn’t helping them to win. Erin has been out of school for a few years now. He plays linebacker in the NFL and has always been a bit undersized. Whose to say what actually happened.

It is ironic that there are quite a few Maryland players who wind up getting caught in the NFL. At least I hope it is just ironic.

If Ralph is in any way facilitating the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs by his players, he has my 100% support because that’s exactly the kind of big-program, high-stakes, winner-take-all attitude we need if we’re going to try to compete with the big boys.

By the way, I thought for sure this post was going to be about Erin Andrews…your journalistic integrity remains uncompromised.

Have you been watching “The Program” again rin??

Yes. And I’m glad I wasn’t the only one (remember Fridge made Scott carry a football around campus earlier this year.) I don’t know if I want Jamar to have a drinking problem, weigh 108 lbs, or to ride a motorcycle, but I think perhaps some steroid shakes for the o-line might come in handy next year.
