Contest Update: 3 More in the Books
First and foremost, since we are a Maryland site, don’t forget the Terps play the Mike Jarvis coached Florida Atlantic Owls today at 2:00 pm. In my opinion that would be pretty poor scheduling by the NFL to have games with huge playoff ramifications to go up against Maryland-Florida Atlantic, but luckily for the NFL, this is one of the few Maryland games of the season that won’t be shot in front of a live studio audience. Hopefully the audience will be there, but the camera’s won’t. So good luck to Gary Williams and the boys as they take on the Owls (when I think of the Sunshine State and the Atlantic Ocean, I immediately think Owls).
Anyway moving on to the reason you probably checked the site at all today, the Bowl Pick’em Contest. Assuming Gary Williams has any of JDLeavitts luck, the Terps should be okay. JD had a perfect day going 3 for 3, and for his hard work he now shares a spot at the top of the standings. Mostly everyone else got 2 out of 3. Marshall rolled out to a big lead on Ohio, only to spend the entire 2nd half holding on to that lead (only 3 of us had Marshall). UNC then blew a late lead allowing Pitt to drive 90 yards in like 10 minutes to make a chip shot field goal for the Meineke Car Care Trophy (12 of us had that). And in what I had as my lock of the century, USC just scrapped by a pesky Boston College team, but that was good enough for me, and everyone else not named JAdams2017 or Great Ape.
So to summarize in very general terms, if you got Marshall right, then you got UNC wrong, and everyone had USC, for the most part. So there wasn’t much of a shake up, except for JD’s rise. Tonight we have the Music City Bowl at 8:30 with Clemson and Kentucky, only AK and Great Ape have Kentucky. Then we get 1 game the next two days, then on Wednesday we get 2, and then things really open up on New Years Eve. But for now, here is how we look:
JD Leavitt 6
Rwimbrow 6
RIW 3 5
Tevin 5
CWB 5
Clemson Girl 5
JJH 5
Rich Adams 4
AK 4
Lebron James 4
J Hannold 3
Great Ape 3
VT Fan 3* (not sure who he had in the Pitt game)
Isabelle 3
JAdams 2017 2
Jonny Utah 2
So there is where we sit. Still way to early to panic or brag about where you are standing, but after a slow start of the week, things are going to start moving really quick. Until then, enjoy the Terps-Florida Atlantic Game via radio, oh and I think there may be some NFL games on today as well.
Extra Droppings:
If you are thinking 20$ isn’t much of a grand prize for the Turtledroppings.com Bowl Pick’Em contest. Get this, in my fantasy English Premiere League, the top roughly 2 million teams are entered into a free single elimination tournament. You play some stranger (first round I beat some guy from Spain, and the second round I’m playing an English Chap) and the winner moves on. So if you manage to run this 2 Million person guantlet, the grand prize for your efforts….a digital camera, an ipod, and a “kit” from your favorite EPL Team.
Now say everyone in the TD contest put in a dollar, we would have $16 worth of prizes. Using that same logic, if the EPL tournament did the same, the winner would get over 2 Million…ah…Euro’s I guess. So when you look at it this way, the TD Bowl Pick’em Contest is rather generous!!

Big game for me tonight. I do sense an ACC bias amongst the participants in this contest, ha.
