Last Minute UVA Notes
Well I’ll be leaving pretty soon for College Park, but before I do I just wanted to do a quick post. I never say that when a player is out for our opponents it is good news because A. It isn’t very sportsmanlike and B. Usually the player who replaces them does just as well if not better. So I’m going to be a neutral as possible saying this, but it appears RB Mikell Simpson is OUT today for UVA.
On our side, it appears Demetrius Hartsfield is going to try to play today with a cast. I don’t know what to expect from him, but if it were me out there in a cast in the rain, I would be wondering how I was going to tackle anyone, so I wouldn’t expect him to be player of the game. But with that being said, I’m still glad he is going to give it a go. I hope this works out because we definitely need him out there.
The weather is also going to be a factor, maybe not as much of a factor as up in Penn State where they are expecting snow for their Homecoming game, but it is going to be an issue. UVA has a great defense who specializes in shutting down the pass. Maryland can run the ball, but I see this going two ways. One way has Maryland seeing success on the ground, the other is that UVA no longer has to worry about the pass and throws 8 guys in the box every play. So time will tell.
Anyway, Happy Homecoming. Let’s hope the Terps show up today and give it their all because a win here could be a huge jumping off point for the second half of the season, and a loss pretty much puts our Bowl hopes to bed for the year.

This past weekend was a real bummer for me and my favorite football teams.

This is my favorite sports season, but man, I gotta agree with JH – I never want to relieve this past Saturday and Sunday. Brutal. Godbless Midnight Madness.
