When it Rains it Pours

There are lots of news items coming out of the Terps athletic department today.  So not only we staring down the barrel of a 1-4 start with Clemson coming into town this week, there are some other items of concern.

First lets stick with football.  It appears Travis Baltz is going to miss the Clemson and likely the Wake Forest game with a severely sprained left foot (his non kicking foot).  It appeared Friedgen wanted to keep Nick Ferrera from punting duties, but after the botched punt attempt by Ted Townsley, I expect Ferrera to be the punter.  Speaking of the Wake game, it appears ESPN has decided it loves the hits ESPN360 is getting from Terps fans by placing yet another game on the internet instead of regular tv.  I must say I had a pretty good feeling this was coming, but such is life.  The game will kickoff at 6:30 PM in Winston Salem.

Now, if all that news wasn’t bad enough, incoming forward/center for the Terps basketball team, Jordan Williams has turned himself into police custody following an incident last month.  The charges are breach of peace, and 3rd degree assault in his hometown of Torrington, CT.  So stay tuned for this one.  The University is not making any judgement on the situation until the judicial system has run its course.

Just this morning I was really starting to think about basketball, and then I actually really started thinking about the incoming freshman, and got even more excited.  Then I get the email about this, and though the sun is shinning here in Boston, it suddenly feels like I am sitting back in Byrd Stadium last Saturday.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring better news.
