RU Ready

Well there it is.  I went all week without using the “RU” line in some kind of witty way that has probably been done to death, but I finally cracked.  Mainly because I don’t have time to think of a better title.  As the sun is going down over the Mid-Atlantic, game day looms.  It won’t be much longer until I put my kid to bed and begin packing for the tailgate.  And once we unpack the trucks, set up the grill and begin throwing the football around, it will only be 5 minutes till game time.  Not actually five minutes, but tailgating is one of the few places in the world where 6 hours can seem to pass in 5 minutes.

And once the trucks are packed up, and the last few beers are either finished or hidden, it’s time for Rutgers.  But more importantly than that, it’s judgement day.  There will be no salvation to this season with a loss tomorrow.  It just won’t happen, but a win could make everything right with the world.  It would give us a week of talking about positives and building optimism for the season.  But a loss, and well I’d hate to think of it.  It’s hard to imagine morale being much lower around this season, but a loss would push us to a new level.

Though you can make a case for every game being important.  I think this one has a lot of symbolism riding on it.  It’s a fork in the road.  If we lose, a win next week against Clemson (however unlikely) won’t represent anything, it will just be an anomoly in the season.   But if we win this week, and then follow it up the next week, it will symbolize a re-birth of the season.  And if we follow a win up tomorrow with a loss to Clemson, all isn’t lost.  But all positive outcomes start with a win tomorrow.

It should be a fun one, it certainly will be a big one, the only question left is RU read…..no I can’t do that to you twice!!
