One other note. Just looked at Rivals.com and MD currently has the 30th ranked recruiting class for 2010. Right behind FSU at 29 and in front of NCST at 31. This will obviously change but it’s a good sign.

By “Top of the Polls” I meant top 5, maybe top 10. Not one of those 3 schools is there yet. They were very highly ranked just years ago. Auburn won a national title.

That is what we need, but will never get. Uh Michigan is in the top 25 now, Clemson is probably not that far off, and Auburn is retarded.

I know, I have a tough time with this, but in all honesty what has he ever really done with his players. The first three years were great, and he has raised MD football to a level I could only dream of back when we were in school. For that I am grateful, but it is obvious things are not trending upwards. There is some talent coming in, but that is a few years off anyway. I already had in my mind that next year was not going to be good. I expected this year to be above average. It may go down as one of worst seasons since the 90′s.

I don’t put all the blame on Fridge though, it starts much higher up in the athletic department. He would love to do more I am sure, but is a bit handcuffed.

Ok so lets say Friedgen gets fired. What happens when it takes two years for the Team to get the new system. Is everyone willing to wait 3 years for a winning team? Sometimes the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Look at Clemson, Auburn, and Michigan. Perennial power house teams that have not been back to the top of the polls even after changing coaches. I heard someone the other night on the radio say we need to get Pete Carroll or Urban Meyer. Are you crazy? That kind of coach isn’t coming here. We should be happy to compete for an ACC title every year. We are not going to win a National Championship.

talent depth and i dont think this new scheme is second nature yet. i think it will be good but they still look a little slow in rwacting. the other issue is they need to make the play when they are in position.

And yes, the offense has put the defense in some tight spots and short field situations.

So what is the issue on defense? Talent? Depth? After three games, it’s not looking like it was Cosh’s fault last year.

I didn’t want to say that, but I too feel the seat getting hot under the big man all the way up here. Maybe he got us to this point, and it is going to take someone else to get to the next level.

Here is what bothers me. Of course it is a waste of time to debate stuff that never did or will happen, but ask yourself this. Had Nick Ferrara made that kick from 42 to put us up by 5, do you think MTSU would have won?

My answer is yes. They kicked a FG that was shorter than an extra point against a defense that could not allow them inside the 30. Now take that defense and have them not need to give up a TD and I think their crappy prevent zone would have even been softer. That’s what alarms me!

How did we get to this point? How does this happen. Teams like Clemson, or VT don’t have years like this. I can forgive the previous 2 losses (lets face it JMU in OT IS a loss), but not this. My support for Friedgen may finally be eroding.
