Terps To Hold Last Football Scrimmage Today
There isn’t a whole lot of news worthy information floating around out there following yesterdays practices, but it does seem Maryland Coach, Ralph Friedgen has began to work on putting a travel roster together. He hopes to have that figured out after today’s scrimmage.
If you remember from previous blog entries, the ACC set a limit this year on the number of players a school can have travel on a given week to 72. Friedgen appears to have 69 Terps penciled in for the trip to Cal. To you and I it may not seem like a big deal who gets spots 70, 71, and 72, but keep in mind this isn’t any old road game. It is a rare chance to travel to the west coast. So you hope that will give some players some extra motivation to want to get on the plane next week.
I haven’t seen any names out there mentioned, but the Fridge has indicated it most likely will be players that can help on special teams, or ones that can fill a couple of positions if need be. An example he did mention was freshman Nick Ferrara who can punt, kick off, and kick FG’s if something were to happen to Travis Baltz. Though Mike Barbour has not be officially been named the kicker, it appears that may be the direction the Terps are heading.
It seems this is the last practice for players to make a name for themselves, before the focus shifts to game prep and the Cal Golden Bears. The game is right around the corner, and I am ready to go!
