Some Saturday Morning Notes

It is hard to believe but we only have this Saturday and next Saturday before the chaos of College Football begins!  The good news is that every year the season seems to come faster and faster, the bad news is, well the very same thing.  When we were young and had no responsibilities the time between December and September seemed endless.  Now I turn pages in my monthly calendar like it’s a day by day.  But enough about me, it’s officially late August.

Not too much going on with the program that we haven’t touched upon.  Adrain Cannon seems to be generating buzz as the player who has really made a name for himself in the pre-season.  We also have been hearing that the O-Line has been coming together nicely.

I prefectly believe Cannon is stepping it up, as for the O-Line, well I could have told you the quotes we’d be hearing about them back in July.  Of course they are going to say they are progressing and pulling together and that the depth chart is starting to shake out.  What did you expect Ralph to say “The line is a disaster, parlay all your money with our weekly opponent to the over…trust me!”?  Of course not, so anything I hear about the O-line I’m ignoring.   We will learn everything we need to know about them from what we see on the field.

Let’s see, moving on if you have time today, and it isn’t raining cats and dogs, there is a Scrimmage in Byrd at 5:25 pm.  It isn’t open for the general public, but it is open to members of the Maryland Gridiron Network and Terrapin Club (and what Maryland fans aren’t a member of one of those?).  Word is the first 250 people get to watch the scrimmage from the new suites, ok I made that last part up, but it’s a good example why I should be in charge of marketing!

I guess that is all for now.  Nothing major going on, but that is going to change quickly.  If I can draw some inspiration from Hurricane Bill out there in the Atlantic, College Football is just two weeks away, and though it hasn’t hit yet, if you look closely you’ll notice the birds and other animals acting funny, the clouds starting to build off in the horizon, the swells starting to increase off the beach, and an eiry quiet that is a strange harbinger to what is about to be unleashed!  But unlike a Hurricane, this storm is being greated with open arms.

Extra Droppings:

Usually I use the ED for something to get off my chest, or to convey a thought that I find amusing (insert your own joke about my writing here).  But if you want to get warm fuzzy’s about basketball season, please check out Matt Bracken’s recruiting report on Mychal Parker.  To make it easier, I’m going to try to link it here, but keep in mind Chris is more of the IT wiz when it comes to this blog and he is out of town for the moment.  But here goes, hopefully this works, and I dare you to read it and not feel excited about Maryland Basketball.
