Planes, Trains….and well Planes

By this time this isn’t really news, but more like a Thank You.  About 10 days ago I wrote about potential cuts to the Football Program and how the team may have to skip flights in order to bus to some of the games in the State of North Carolina this year.  Well the Maryland Gridiron Network got together and raised $64,000 so that the football team could fly to their games against NC State, and Wake Forest.

Needless to say this is quite a gesture.  But what I like most about it is that these two games are two make or breakgames.  In all honesty I could see us winning or losing them.  And a two game swing would certainly make an impact on our bowl chances, or bowl location.  Since these games are going to be what I think “toss ups”, it is great to have every edge possible going for us.  We obviously will never know, but busing to North Carolina could very well result in some rusty play, if not for the whole game than at least possibly a quarter.

That would swing the advantage to the home team who didn’t have a 6 hour bus ride coming into the game, or at least the night before the game.  So way to go Maryland Gridiron Network, all us Terp fans are grateful for your generosity.  If you aren’t a MGN member (and I’m not), maybe its time to think about joining (and I am).  It’s quite apparent the difference they can make for our program.

Extra Droppings:

Well I’m back from the beach this week, and it’s probably for the best.  For the first 6 days of my vacation the waves were knee high.  To someone who loves to play in the water as much as I do this was bad news.  But looking at the surf forecast for the Outer Banks today and I see the weekend waves are going to be 10-17 feet high!  I sure would have loved to see that, but from the safety of the shore of course.  I mean I’m not crazy.
