Meet the Newbies: David Mackall

We are winding down, and this installment of Meet the Newbies brings us to David Mackall.  David is a life long Baltimore Native, who is really excited about playing for his home state University of Maryland.  He comes to the Terps at 6’3″ 230 LBS out of Edmonston-Westlake HS.  He played the LEO linebacker in high School, but under Don Brown’s new defensive scheme he will most likely grow into a defensive end.  During his senior season he recorded 91 tackles, 6 sacks and 3 forced fumbles.  Those stats were good enough to garner him 4 star ratings from Rivals.com and the number 9 ranked prospect out of the state.  Scout.com gave him 3 stars and the number 83 ranked defensive end.  He chose the Terps over Georgia, Clemson and Syracuse.

This kid fits the mold of student athlete that coach Friedgen likes to get at Maryland.  He is planning on majoring in Business Management and Finance at Maryland.  There is something that really sticks out to me about these kids.  They all list shows that are on reruns for their favorite shows.  David is no different as he list the Fresh Prince of Bel Air.  I am not even sure if that was still on when we were in College.  I feel like that played it’s course in the early 90′s.  Which brings us to David’s Birthday (how do you like that segue?).  Mackall was born on March 21, 1991.  That day in history included a visit to the Capital Centre by the Grateful Dead (those guys that run the Dead website always seem to come up in the google search), but Terrapin Station did not make the set list.  Former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi died on this day.

So there is one more off our list of Meet the Newbies.  The season is fast approaching, and I am really getting excited about it.  Terrapins Rising is already 3 weeks through the 8 week show.  Before you know it we will be hoping on the plane heading out to San Francisco.  Until then welcome to the Terps David, and we will see you on the field.

Our other hobby is maintaining a tailgating website known as D7tailgate.com.   This week I got the new NCAA football game and the rosters and did a full season simulation.  You can see the results here.  Each week before the game I will do a new simulation with the updated depth chart.  This full season sim is basically how EA Sports sees things.
