I just want to give you a few notes from the ACC Media Day concerning our Terps. First of all, only Maryland and Boston College did not receive first place votes in the Atlantic Division. It goes as follows:
ATLANTIC DIVISION (First Place Votes in parentheses)
- Florida State (56)
- Clemson (14)
- NC State (10)
- Wake Forest (7)
- Boston College
Kind of about what you would expect. I actually could see Clemson getting a few more votes, if they had a QB named going into Media Day, but other than that, about what you expect to see out of the slightly North Carolina biased reporters.
Just for your info, here is how the Coastal was picked as well:
- Virginia Tech (78)
- Georgia Tech (9)
- North Carolina
I think VT is the favorite, but I am surprised GT didn’t get a few more first place votes. Also kind of surprised UNC didn’t get a bone thrown their way by a local guy.
And just incase you are counting at home, Jonathan Dwyer beat out CJ Spiller 39-28 for Preseason Player of the Year.
So with that post, we inch ever so close to the start of college football. For me it is bittersweet. I HATE wishing the summer away, and so far this season in Boston, we have not had much of one at all. In fact we haven’t even put our AC unit in. But there is something about college football season that takes away a little bit of the sting. Maybe it is the tailgates, maybe it’s the optimism that this could be the year the Terps make it to the ACC Championship, or maybe it’s thinking back to our own personal glory days of sitting standing in a not so packed Byrd Stadium cheering on a bad football team when those players were our classmates. What ever it is I will welcome it with open arms, but until that time, I still want to enjoy a little summer.
