Notes From ACC Annual Meeting
Not much going on with the Terps, other than the Maryland and Syracuse Men’s and Women’s Lax games coming up this weekend, so I figured I would throw out the big items covered at the ACC Annual Meetings over the weekend.
First off the Men’s coaches unanimously voted to keep the conference schedule at 16 games as opposed to 18, though it seems the TV contract may have the final say a few years down the road.
The football teams are capping the travel roster size to 72 players.
John Swofford, on behalf of all the football coaches, will recommend to other conferences and the NCAA an early signing period for football. Currently football is the only sport without an early signing period. There appears to be a mixed feeling around the country on this topic so stay tuned.
Last but not least, Myrtle Beach, SC will be hosting three straight ACC Baseball Tournaments. This will not take place until 2011. This years tournament is in Durham (supposed to be in Boston, but moved) and next years is in Greensboro.
So there you have it, all the big news out of the Jacksonville area for the ACC. Seems like an awful lot of resources were used to come up with those small items. I think an nice email chain would have worked just fine.
Extra Droplets
Just wanted to keep you all posted on former Terps Brett Cecil. His second career start with the Toronto Blue Jays was a gem as he went 8 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 walks and no earned runs while striking out 6. Nice start to a career. Keep it up Brett! You are Maryland Baseball’s biggest star right now!

I may be late to the party on this one… but I read Ralph has lost 85 pounds since last October! Good for him. Says he wants to lose 150, but not sure if he can make it.

You won’t be able to recognize him come fall.

Yes, he looked great at Signing Day. Hopefully he keeps it up and come fall it might actually be a national story.
