Vasquez to Enter NBA Draft

Greivis Vasquez is entering his name for the NBA draft.  The good news for Maryland fans is he is not hiring an agent.  This allows him to withdraw his name from the draft by June 15th, and return to the Terps.  This allows Vasquez to guage the interest of NBA teams, while working out at pre-draft camps, and hopefully (for us fans) informing him on what parts of his game he needs to work on.

In other Terps basketball news, the Terps will face travel to Indiana to take on the Hoosiers as part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

  1. The ACC & SEC Blog Says:

I wish the NBA would make the deadline farther from the Draft to pull out. These kids have nearly 2months to get feedback and they just need 1 or 2 guys to tell them they are first round pick and they are likely gone.

Maryland (and the ACC) needs guys like Vasquez back.

If scouts can’t give them a high grade initially then are they really being honest two months later?

I wish Greivis the best, but if he goes pro, we are screwed. I know a lot of Maryland fans love to cuss him, and you can say what you want, but how many times this year were there 4 guys staring at the half court defense and waiting for something to happen? He at least tries to create when everyone else is in stand around and watch mode. We take him out, and look for Maryland’s half court offense to be 30 seconds of passing around the perimeter followed by an ill advised 3. Though maybe having an inside presence next year would help.
