Dan Gronkowski Selected by Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions selected Maryland TE Dan Gronkowski one pick before Mr. Irrelevant. He was selected 46th in the 7th round(255th overall). Gronkowski is an excellent blocker, but still managed to record 29 catches for 287 yards and 3 TD’s for the Terps this year. Gronkowski came to Maryland because Ralph Friedgen gave him the opportunity to play quarterback before making the move to TE. His squat of 635 lbs is second among Maryland TE’s all-time behind only Vernon Davis.
