Maryland VS Louisville Womens Hoops Pregame

I don’t have time to go as in depth as I do for the men’s games, but when the Maryland Lady Terps are in the Elite 8, and have a chance to get to their second Final Four in 4 years, you have to give them some time.  First of all, they will face Louisville at 7 PM on Monday at 7 PM on ESPN.

Louisville comes in with a 32-4 record including a win over Baylor to get to the Elite 8.  Their last lost was a 75-36 loss to UCONN in the Big East Championship game.  Yikes!  The last Maryland game, just goes to show women’s basketball has come a long way.  It wasn’t long ago where it was a foregone conclusion that the one seed was almost a lock to go to the Final Four.  Look for this one to be just as intense.

One thing I heard along the season, was Marissa Coleman had a chance to take over the all time leading scoring for the Lady Terps.  So I did a little research and. . . she has 2,187 career points and is 60 behind Crystal Langhorne at 2,247.  So there is a chance, and it would appear she would need to make it to the championship game to make it happen.  However, should she drop 42 again, well it would make it that much easier.  It shouldn’t go without notice that Kristi Toliver is the only other player in MD history over 2,000 points with 2,064.

Overall, I will say I am shocked they pulled the last game out against Vanderbilt.  The Maryland defense looked atrocious early, but Coleman wasn’t about to let that be her last game and they pulled it out.  We watched it at the Purple Shamrock in Boston before going over to the Men’s East Regional game, and there was actually another dude in the bar with a Maryland shirt on.  When we walked out and past him on the Freedom Trail he was banging on the window giving me a thumbs up for my Maryland shirt.  Lady Terp Madness is spreading!  Go Terps.

No it wasn’t Lamont Jordan, but I expect we will see him on camera tonight.

That’s what happens when you don’t play any defense. You can’t hope to outscore everyone all the time. It’s too bad they didn’t get to the Championship but they did win the ACC this year which is great.
