Maryland NCST Wrap Up and Wake Preview
I don’t have a lot of time, but just wanted to tie somethings up. First I think we need to give Dino Gregory his due. 6 points, 7 boards a couple of blocks and a couple of charges taken. Nice solid contribution from the bench.
Another good sign is they attempted 21 free throws. Granted 6 or 8 of them were at the end of the game when State was trying to extend the game, but that is better than the 8 combined from the previous game.
On to the Wake Forest game. I think one (and possibly the only area) Maryland has any advantage is that they have a game under their belt in the Georgia Dome. Is that a huge advantage? I doubt it, but they do have their feet wet, and maybe can get out to a fast start. The way Ben McCauley abused the Terps down low yesterday is a cause for concern as Wake’s front line with Al-Farouq Aminu is far more formidable. The Terps did slow him down by switching to the zone, and I would expect to see more of that today. I kind of wouldn’t mind seeing the zone for 40 minutes!
The last meeting we had our chances. It really came down to some missed shots (read Eric Hayes missing 3′s) that could have changed the outcome. If he stays hot, that will be a huge boost that the Terps need to Help Greivis Vasquez.
So there are a few quick points, I wanted to do more, but I just didn’t have enough time this morning.
Extra Droplets
I just heard Syracuse and UConn went 6 overtimes. I have to check the boxscore later to see who fouled out of that one. You would think some bench warmers had to be in there at the end. If the Terps went to one something in the morning I would have died!

I like your point about having your feet wet. It seemed to me that VT was a little more ready to play than UNC. Hopefully it will be the same with Wake, we will come out loose and they will come out rusty. Who knows if that will be the case, but we need to hang our hat on something.
Plus your point about Hayes missing those 3′s. That was the only difference the last time we met. If he can be hot, then that could be the difference, I agree with you 100% there. Of course to be devils advocate will Neal be as hot today as he was on Senior Day?
