Jump on the Bey-wagon!

Though basketball season isn’t quite officially over yet, and we now haveSpring Football to also talk about, one of the major stories going forward for the next month is going to be the drafting of Darrius Heyward-Bey.  The Baltimore Sun is doing a series of articles following Darrius as he prepares for the draft.  The first one was out today.   I’m not sure when the second one comes out, at the bottom of today’s it just says they will be putting them out occasionally.  Sometimes I wish we were that general on this site, but if we see anything good, we won’t let it go un-noticed.

If the Sun can’t provide you enough Darrius pre-draft coverage he is also being featured on a website called imatopprospect.com.  Darrius is one of 6 potential draftees that the site will be following which will include blogs from the players.

On a somewhat related note, I was reading my March Madness Sports Illustrated at lunch today, and in it is an excellent article about how Athletes go broke.  Very fascinating.  It is interesting to see all the traps they get into.  I hope that anyone who truely has Heyward-Bey’s best interests in their heart have him at least read that article.  It is very sobering.

In other news, in a less indepth way (were not professional here, we just sometime look like them) turtledroppings.com is also going to do it’s best to provide DHB coverage.  I think what makes Darrius so intreguing is that fact that not only is he a Terp, but a lot of the local pro teams are very interested in him.  I have seen mock drafts with both the Eagles and Ravens taking the fleet footed WR, so things should be interested.

In other news basketball resumes tonight.  If your bracket is still in one piece enjoy the show, but if you are like me, I guess you’ll be watching old DVR’ed 90210 repeats.

Extra Droppings:

How come when I heard the words “UConn”, “NCAA Violation”, and “Agent”, the one word that didn’t come to my mind was “Surprise”.

Someone on the radio the two days ago wondered if Gary Williams was sitting at his desk smoking a victory cigar when the news about UConn came out. I’m sure he wishes no ill will toward Calhoun but you wonder if he smiled a little bit.
