Honors for Vasquez

The All ACC Basketball teams were announced today.  The First Team to no ones surprise, featured Tyler Hansbrough who was elected unanimously.  Not that we care much about what anyone in baby blue does, but for Hansbrough this was his fourth unanimous selection to the first team.  Regardless of what you think of the wine and cheeser UNC fans, that is still an accomplishment worth of a tip of the cap.  Rounding out the first team was his teammate Ty Lawson, Toney Douglas of FSU, Gerald Henderson of Duke, and Jack “Damn You” McClinton of Miami fame.

The second team consists of Wake’s Jeff Teague, Clemson’s Trevor Booker, BC guard Tyrese Rice, Duke’s Kyle Singler, and Maryland’s own Greivis Vasquez!  No Terps made the all defense squad or all Rookie team, something that should not come as a shock to anyone.  I’d also be willing to bet if there was an All Conference “With the shot clock expiring” Team, we would have been shut out of that one as well.  Regardless, this is a great accomplishment for Greivis, I wasn’t sure if he would get the second team or not but the Terps disappointing finish kind of over shadowed his play.

Anyway, just 3 more days until the ACC Tournament.  Seems the general consencus is either two or 3 wins gets it done for us.  It’s a shame it has come to this, but let’s start with Thursday and go from there.  Stranger things have happened, right Mr. Gilchrist?

Extra Droppings:

Where are my manners.  Now would be a great time to point out my Dutch heritage and congratulate the Netherlands on their fine upset of the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic.  I love cheering for the Orange come World Cup time, but I never figured I’d get to do it in baseball, so way to go Netherlands!
