Counting Down the Days, Here Are A Few More Notes
Just from all the reading/researching I have done for this game, here are some other “droppings” I have come across
This is Maryland’s 23rd visit to the NCAA Tournament. The last time they were a #10 Seed was in 1994 when they made to the sweet 16 by beating St. Louis and #2 UMass before losing to the Fab Five of Michigan. The Terps have an all-time record of 36-21 in the tournament. This is the 13th appearance under Gary Williams and the Terps are 23-11 under GW. The Terps have won 8 straight first round games.
Maryland is 1-0 vs. Cal all time. That game you may remember was in the BB&T classic in 1996 when Tony Gonzalez played basketball for Cal.
Just incase this is the last time we see #21 Greivis Vasquez in a Maryland uniform, here is where he stands in the Maryland Record Books. He is 16th in points with 1,479. 4th in assist with 555. 15th in steals with 132, 6th in 3 pointers made, but 3rd in attempts. He would be #5, well actually #6 (Hayes would jump into the all-time list as well) for free throw percentage at 81%. Hopefully this season doesn’t end Thursday, and hopefully Greivis wants to comeback next year.
Well If I come across any other factoids I will post them as I find them. Go Terps

Yeah Factoids!
I can’t believe we are 8-0 in our last 8 first round games. That fact stuns me. Hopefully we can make it 9. I obviously want to beat Cal and move on to the next round, but because we could potentially all be together to watch on Saturday makes me want it even that much more. I mean when is the last time more than 3 of us were together for a game? College??

I would say one of the China Buff nights a few years back. Or, might have been the day Mary solved the Simpson Rubik’s cube and we beat Duke.
