Bombs Away!
My God, not since I watched that documentary on the History Channel about the Dresden bombing have I seen such devestation falling from the sky. UNC scored, what 57 three pointers, actually it was only 16, but it was plenty enough to win by a score of 108-91.
I’m really not sure what to make of this, you have UNC make only 10 3′s, and the score is 91-90 Maryland. That’s a pretty big “what if”, but it demonstrates the forces that were working against us. I’m not really sure any team in the country could have beaten North Carolina tonight. It was just their night, and it is a shame we had to run into this buzz saw at this particular point in the season, because in all honesty, we didn’t play that bad. God help me, but I almost want to say we played well!
And that’s the sad part. It has honestly gotten to the point where I’m looking for a moral victory in a 108-91 drubbing. But I think there was a lot to take from this game for Terps fans. They battled, they didn’t give up, and they seemed to answer UNC time and time again. Of course our answer to their 3′s was 2′s and that’s no way to make a living.
I’m just kind of in a weird spot right now. I wish it wasn’t my turn to do the immediate recap, because I’m still not sure what to think. Was this a moral victory or another case of us getting run out of the building on Tobacco Road? I honestly don’t know and wouldn’t mind seeing a little more reaction from the papers and talking heads. But my gut says a lot of our younger guys played pretty well, it’s just unfortunate that our best case scenario has me debating the deeper meaning of a 17 point loss. Because best case or not, February isn’t the time of year for moral victories.
Extra Droppings:
If you have time, and a Terrapin Club or MGN Card, I highly recommend heading out to College Park for the National Signing Day Celebration tomorrow night. Talking Maryland Football in February is one of the highlights of the year for me, you get some food, you get some Fridge, and you get a whole lot of info on the incoming football class. If you can make, head on down, it’s either that or you can sit around and think about the UNC game some more.

I love the effort from the team last night but the discrepency in talent is huge. Tucker, Mosley, Milbourne all played well. I’m interested to see how we handle the Dookies and Heels at Comcast.
