You can’t teach size
A few thoughts as the game winds down.
Maryland has talented players but they don’t have Wake, Dook, Carolina talent. Therefore they have to play perfect games to beat elite teams. Today the size disadvantage killed the Terps. If you aren’t tall enough to rebound then you have to make sure you box out and the Terps didn’t do much in the way of fundamentals today. Adrian Bowie looked timid and unfocused. We need him to play great in order to win. Hayes looked slow and failed to pull the trigger a number of times when he was open. Vasquez needs to run his mouth less and score more. His leadership skills are lacking. I do like the hustle of Mosely and Milbourne. They may not be the best players out there but I always feel like they play their hardest.
As for ESPN. They can do without Mike Patrick, who mistook Neal for Hayes one time (he is only 3 inches taller and 100 lbs. heavier). Abby Waner provided a lot of critical information from her spot on the sideline. I’m glad Len Elmore responded to her comments regarding Vasquez by saying, “If Dook needs remarks by Vasquez to get fired up then there is something wrong.”
Turtledroppings would also like to send condolences to the Yow family due to the unfortunate passing of Kay Yow this morning.
