The Weather Outside is Frightful

It is kind of weird to be writing about the weather for a basketball game.  Football, sure, but basketball is played indoors.  Well I think it is worth pointing out that it is snowing in Maryland today.  Now to most of the country this isn’t really news worthy.  To Maryland it’s the second biggest story of the month, just barely beating Obama being inagurated.  And unfortunately the timing of this storm couldn’t be worse.

The reason it is unfortunate is because it is going to keep a lot of people away from the Comcast Center.  I’m not saying anyone who has tickets and doesn’t show up is a whimp, that would be underestimating the whole situation, there will probably be hundreds of fans who literally CAN’T make it to the game due to traffic.

And that’s the tragedy.  This is an absolute must win.  We aren’t 100% done if we lose, but for all intensive purposes we are.  We HAVE to bounce back after the Duke game, we HAVE to win these toss up games at Comcast, we HAVE to re-build the confidence of the team.  And having a packed Comcast Center would have gone a long way towards helping us reach those goals.  Now we are going to be playing this crucial match up in what will most likely be a Library.  If we ever needed our students to step it up and come in force, tonight is the night for it.  People who have to navigate the Beltway are going to have a tough time making it out.  Those who only have to walk from Elkton Hall, or the Knox Box’s don’t have any excuses.

If you love the Terps, and can make it to Comcast, cheer like you are 3 people.  We are going to need it, BC may not be the flashiest game on the schedule, but believe me, this is one of the most important games of the year, now go cheer as if you camped out for 24 hours for this game.  Go Cheer as if BC consisted of 5 JJ Redicks, Go Cheer as if the entire season were on the line, because guess what, it very well may be!

Extra Droppings:

I made an extra effort today to make sure I got a picture of my daughter in the snow.  I want to have proof one day when she is older that it was once cold enough to snow on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.  Just think only a couple more inches until we pass Southern Mississippi and New Orleans in snowfall for the season!
