One More

Just two more days until the conclusion of the non-conference basketball schedule and all is well with the world.  Only Morgan State stands between Maryland and a 12-2 start.  Not to mention an 8 game win streak.  Now I know putting the Morgan State game in the bag 2 days before we actually tip is a little pre-mature and is practically like mooning the basketball gods, but I think most Terp fans would agree, we aren’t going to lose this game.  I wouldn’t make that boast last year, but from what I’ve watched with this squad, I’m pretty sure they will be able to handle MSU.  They are playing well, they are playing consistent, and they are refusing to play down to the level of their competition.

At this point I would like to add that things have been going so well that even the pollsters are starting to notice, but that hasn’t been the case.  Both the AP and the ESPN poll have us receiving votes, but not many, we wouldn’t crack the top 35 in either, but instead of ranting and raving and pointing to all the teams ahead of us with more loses against weaker opponents (we lost to Gonzaga and Georgetown for God’s sake!), I’m happy.  I am very content to fly under the radar.  What exactly does respect in January get you?  Nothing.  Please everyone continue to ignore us, look else where and pay no attention to the Maryland Program.  We will just keep poking along like the Terrapin who’s name we bear and before you know it, come March we could be looking at 20 wins.  And afterall, its were we end up that matters, not who saw us coming.

Extra Droppings

Don’t forget to cheer for your favorite Big 10 School from Michigan, remember a win for the Spartans or Wolverines is a win for us!  The higher they finish, the better our resume gets, so Go Blue, Bleed Green and help us get invited to the Dance!

I would be very happy to go unranked all year and yet make it into the tournament. Slow and steady.
